David E. Young: They are now public news and debate forums.
Curm: If they're not your personal forums, what are they?
David E. Young: The forums have been moved, and are no longer my personal forums.
Curm: Apparently not. Probably due to inactivity
Curm: No more forums eh?
David E. Young: Done. Now xan you explain to me what you meant about your comments then, if it was not what it looked like?
Curm: Perverted? Huh? You have an interesting perspective on things my friend. Interesting indeed.Anywho, unblock me. Having to dig around for proxy servers all the time just to visit this place is a real pain in the rear. Come on. Chop Chop.
David E. Young: I don't understand what is friendly or informative in the hodgeodge you posted, but it looked rather perverted from this end, and this is a clean site under rules to stay so under its hosts and sponsors.
Curm: and why would you flag my ip for that? You are obviously easily offended, my friend. I was just trying to offer some constructive criticism in a humorous manner. Please unflag me.
Curm: I was clean. And I was just posting an interesting little tidbit I came across on the internet. Why you have to say I have poor taste is beyond me, and I wasn't trying to "not" be friendly
David E. Young: Curmudgeon, yourpoor taste pointless posts about child pictures pinky music have been deleted, and your IP banned. If you change IP and return, be clean and friendly.
David E. Young: Thanks, Paul. I'll keep that in mind :)
Paul: Hey there, nice page. The stars in the background are confusing at first, but I adapted quickly. Have a great one!
Nathalie: I noticed you like to sing! Would you like to join a webring dedicated to people who love singing? Drop by and sign up. Hope to see you later!
David E. Young: I just looked at your website. Any friend of Joey is a friend of mine! Nice to have you by :)
David E. Young: That's California for you lol
Kai: wow :) you sure live in a sunny place!
David E. Young: Pika, I just sent you an e-mail telling you how :) Sherry, busy packing, but well so far. Thanks!
Sherry: Hope everything is going well.
Pika: Hey, could you tell me how to get teh Community Blog Ring link?
David E. Young: Thanks, Sherry! Most of my time today will be spent packing to move.
Sherry: Stopping in to wish you a happy humpday and ~good wishes~ your way for your job search...
David E. Young: When (and if) they are, the midi will sound fine. To make a comparrison, it is like blaming jpeg file format when a 150 pixel image is blurred at full screen. It is not jpeg format's fault. It is the file itself. Same with midi.
David E. Young: I dont much like that computerized sound either, but the songs I like are not available in better quality sound at this time yet.
David E. Young: It is not the MIDI format that you seem to not like as much as the computerized sound. That sound would be the same with flash for those files.
Curmudgeon: Ah, but "sketchy" flash audio is far better than the annoyingly artificial sounds of Midi. I'd say do away with it altogether.
David E. Young: Flash in scetchy at best when it comes to sound, and does not work well over dial-up connections. It also requires more cache room than a plain MIDI file does. Thanks for the suggestion.
curmudgeon: One word. Flash. the suggestion is get rid of the Midi.
David E. Young: I am curious what the suggestion is. I se you say MIDI is old, but I don't see you suggesting another form that takes less space and is used by all computers.
curmudgeon: A natural? well, midi is very 1994. Nobody uses it anymore and it annoys more than it pleases. Just a suggestion.
David E. Young: Thanks, QOG. I am trying to figure out what you are saying wuhoo about if you read my recent entries.
Q.O.G: wuhoo... jus hop bloggin when i came across ya blog! VEry nice and i enjoy the read!!

Nita: Hi there, I found your site through Minnie's blog and decided to drop by...nice website you've got there!

Life is busy

I just finished second of the four marking periods at Specs Howard, and just have a couple weeks left of my internship at WWJ.  It is a true joy to be working with that great team.  I am seriously considering closing my website for a while, although I will keep my blog and some basic things.  I want to focus on NewsDebate.net and get more users involved in it.

It has been a busy couple of weeks.  WWJ put me on the air a couple of days ago.  A train wreck occurred in Jackson and I was the only person near it, so I covered it and they put me on during the afternoon commute!

A lot has happened since I last posted.  Put simply, I now attend Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts in Southfield, MI.  I start work interning for WWJ News Radio Detroit this coming Monday, and I work at an Auto Zone in Jackson, MI.  This makes my scedule very interesting indeed.  Let's see what the future holds!

This evening, I went to my Friday night bowling league.  We all made our averages, but the other team went and bowled incredible games that left us in the dust.  I saw one guy get 8 strikes in a row!  OUCH!  I did keep my average though, and had fun.

Christmas Lights Down

Well, not much to say today.  I finally got most of the Christmas lights put away.  All but the ones on the roof, which take a taller ladder than I have at my disposal.  I'll rent one when I get my check.

That's all for now.  I told you it wasn't much!  lol  Nighty night!

Another Day

  • Mood:

Not much to say today.  I spent most of the day working on essays to try to get some scholarships.

It turns out I may have to fly to California and back in a couple of weeks to get my old high school diploma out of storage.  The school I went to split a few years back, and they now only have computer records going back to 1998.  I graduated in 1997, so I need the actual diploma for the college.

I am off to bed now.  Have fun!

Sing-In

  • Mood:
  • Weather:
  • Day:

Well, I just got home from the sing-in.  The director moves much too fast for me.  We spent an hour and a half running through 7 extremely complicated pieces with quick tempos and off-beats, and only went through most of them once.  I am not a very good music sight reader, and it was a whirlwind of notes passing me by before I could think of what they were.

It was very unlike the choir and opera rehearsals of my past, where parts would be worked through on each piece until we had them down.  Instead, it was assumed that everybody could read, register and sing the right notes automatically without rehearsal at about 5 words/notes a second.  It was downright scary to me, and I have been singing since before I could talk.

At Martha's prompting, I asked if this is the way he normally runs rehearsals, and the answer was, "yes".  I strongly doubt I will be able to do this and keep up and learn these pieces properly.  However, Martha thinks I could, and the other Chorale members seem to think I could, so I promised (against my better judgement) that I would give it a try.  My audition is next Tuesday.  For the first time, I hope that my best is not good enough, because I don't think I am up to the challenge that this group seems to offer.

I am off to bed now.  Nighty-night!

Starting Again

  • Mood:
  • Weather:
  • Day:

Since I have been so unfaithful with the entries, I decided to clear the slate and start again.  I hope to post at least an entry every night - lets see if I can do it this time.

I will start with a little about me.  My name is David.  I live in the small township of Summit, which is part of  Jackson, Michigan, USA.  I spent most of my life in California.  I am engaged to an incredible woman by the name of Martha, who I live with.  We have not set a date yet.

When I moved here a couple of months ago, it was because I had been laid off from my job, and it seemed a good opportunity to join Martha.  I have been unable to find new employment as of yet, so I enrolled in a Broadcasting school that also offers placement.  I start that in March.  In the meantime, I am still applying for part time evening jobs.

Tomorrow night, Martha and I will be going to a "sing-in" at the Jackson Chorale, a local singing group that works with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra.  Some of its members have been asking me to join, so Martha and I will go and see if it is something I want to do.  I'll post tomorrow night on how it goes.

Well, that is all for now.  Have fun!
